Job Summary:
An Occupational Health and Safety Engineer is a specialist responsible for developing and implementing strategies and programs to ensure the health and safety of employees in the workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Risk Assessment:
– Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential issues that could affect employee safety.
– Develop and update safety plans based on assessment findings.
2. Policy and Procedure Development:
– Prepare policies and procedures related to workplace health and safety.
– Ensure all employees comply with established procedures and policies.
3. Training and Awareness:
– Provide training to employees on safety standards and the use of personal protective equipment.
– Organize workshops to raise awareness about workplace hazards and preventive measures.
4. Accident Investigation:
– Investigate workplace accidents and injuries, and document findings.
– Provide detailed reports on potential causes of accidents and recommendations for improving preventive measures.
5. Compliance with Laws and Regulations:
– Ensure compliance with local and international health and safety regulations.
– Monitor changes in legislation and update policies accordingly.
6. Workplace Monitoring:
– Monitor the work environment to ensure safety in terms of ventilation, lighting, and pollution.
– Conduct regular tests on equipment and facilities to ensure proper functioning.
7. Reporting:
– Prepare periodic reports on health and safety status, actions taken, and recommendations for improvement.
– Provide recommendations to senior management based on investigation and review results.
8. Coordination with External Agencies:
– Collaborate with regulatory bodies and external experts for specialized advice and training.
– Work with insurance companies to ensure coverage of workplace risks.
Qualifications and Requirements:
– Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
– Additional certifications, such as NEBOSH, OSHA, are considered an advantage.
– Experience: Practical experience in occupational health and safety, preferably in an industrial or construction environment.
– Skills:
– Strong analytical skills to assess risks and develop solutions.
– Excellent communication skills for training and reporting.
– Ability to work under pressure and manage crises.
– Knowledge: Deep understanding of health and safety standards and regulations.
